🚨 New paper on arXiv: The cosmological necklace problem w/ Andreas Blommaert, Vladimir Narovlansky, and Erez Urbach.

Gluing together copies of a de Sitter axion wormhole gives “cosmological necklaces,” an infinite series of Euclidean saddles that would make the gravitational entropy unbounded. Within a minisuperspace analysis, a (mostly) Lorentzian lapse contour picks out a single necklace, and its entropy is finite, independent of the axion flux, and equal to the empty de Sitter entropy.
